Such will be the honoured ones in the Gardens

“Truly man was created very impatient;-
Fretful when evil touches him;
And niggardly when good reaches him;-
Not so those devoted to Prayer;- Continue reading

Nearer than (his) jugular vein

“It was We Who created man, & We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (& noted them), one sitting on the right & one on the left.

Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).

And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): “This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!”” [50:16-19]

2 our Lord, surely, must we turn back!

“But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old?

And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him.

So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- & (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old. Continue reading

O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord & a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts

“Every soul that hath sinned, if it possessed all that is on earth, would fain give it in ransom: They would declare (their) repentance when they see the penalty: but the judgment between them will be with justice, & no wrong will be done unto them.

Is it not (the case) that to Allah belongeth whatever is in the heavens & on earth? Is it not (the case) that Allah’s promise is assuredly true? Yet most of them understand not. Continue reading

Now hath come unto u, making (things) clear

“Allah did aforetime take a covenant from the Children of Israel, & we appointed twelve captains among them. And Allah said: “I am with you: if ye (but) establish regular prayers, practise regular charity, believe in my messengers, honour & assist them, & loan to Allah a beautiful loan, verily I will wipe out from you your evils, & admit you to gardens with rivers flowing beneath; but if any of you, after this, resisteth faith, he hath truly wandered from the path or rectitude.” Continue reading

Eclipse because of the death of someone

“It is not permitted to the Sun to catch up the Moon, nor can the Night outstrip the Day: Each (just) swims along in (its own) orbit (according to Law).” [36:40]

“Lord of the heavens & of the earth & all between them, & Lord of every point at the rising of the sun!” [37:5] Continue reading

Besides Him have not the least power

“Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu’ba: On the day of Ibrahim’s death, the sun eclipsed & the people said that the eclipse was due to the death of Ibrahim (the son of the Prophet). Allah’s Apostle said, “The sun & the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. They do not eclipse because of someone’s death or life. So when you see them, invoke Allah & pray till the eclipse is clear.”” [Sahih Bukhari] Continue reading

The Cherisher & Sustainer of the worlds!

Narrated Abu Masud: The Prophet said, “The sun & the moon do not eclipse because of the death of someone from the people but they are two signs amongst the signs of Allah. When you see them stand up & pray.” [Sahih Bukhari]

“He it is that cleaveth the day-break (from the dark): He makes the night for rest & tranquillity, & the sun & moon for the reckoning (of time): Such is the judgment & ordering of (Him), the Exalted in Power, the Omniscient.” [6:96] Continue reading

What sort of a messenger is this

“And they say: “What sort of a messenger is this, who eats food, & walks through the streets? Why has not an angel been sent down to him to give admonition with him?

Kindness to Parents

“We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents: In pain did his mother bear him, & in pain did she give him birth. The carrying of the (child) to his weaning is (a period of) thirty months. At length, when he reaches the age of full strength & attains forty years, he says, “O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou has bestowed upon me, & upon both my parents, & that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; & be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee & truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam.” Continue reading
